Brebes – DGW Group once again demonstrated its support for the national agricultural sector by actively participating in the National Shallot Festival 2024, held on August 9-10, 2024, at Alun-Alun, Brebes, Central Java. This annual event, organized by the Brebes Regency Government, highlights Brebes’ position as the largest shallot producer in Indonesia.
The festival aims to promote Brebes' signature product—shallots—for both domestic and international markets, underscoring the region’s strategic role as a national shallot hub, contributing 390 tons (about 60%) of Central Java's output and approximately 20% of national shallot production.
On the demand side, shallots, like chili, are a key commodity whose price impacts inflation. In May 2023, shallots contributed 7.92% to inflation, with a 0.3% effect on the national inflation rate. During this period, low shallot production failed to meet demand, prompting shortages. According to the National Food Agency, household consumption of shallots in Indonesia reached 797.3 thousand tons in 2023.
As a national agro-supply company, DGW Group is committed to supporting Indonesia’s agricultural sector, particularly strategic commodities like shallots. Its participation in the National Shallot Festival 2024 reflects this commitment, contributing through its high-quality fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural tools to help farmers enhance productivity and crop quality. DGW’s presence at the festival also aligns with its dedication to advancing sustainable agriculture and strengthening national food security.
DGW Group celebrated the event by offering thirty tons of free fertilizer to festival attendees and running a “Buy One Get One Free” promotion for DGW fertilizer products. Alongside these offers, DGW Group and its subsidiaries hosted an exhibition booth showcasing various flagship products, including pesticides, fertilizers, and agricultural tools, particularly for shallot farming.
Exhibited products included popular pesticides and plant nutrients like Demolish, Davinci, and Leili 2000; fertilizers such as DGW NPK 16+16+16+TE, NPK Booster DGW 12-6-22-3-TE, MKP and KNO3 DGW; and equipment like DGW plastic mulch and electric knapsack sprayers. The booth provided farmers with detailed information and education on product use and application, aimed at supporting optimal planting and harvesting outcomes.
DGW Group’s Distribution Development Manager, Bayu Pramudya, noted that the company’s participation in the festival offers a valuable communication channel between the company and stakeholders.
“In addition to promotional activities, DGW Group’s presence also opens the door for stakeholders to gain deeper insight into our products, quality, production facilities, and more. We look forward to collaborating with various parties in advancing shallot production in Brebes.”
With Brebes’ vast potential in shallot farming, DGW Group is ready to collaborate and support the optimization of shallot production through its range of agricultural supplies.
